The Revolution Was by Garet Garrett

Firstly, by attack that was direct, save only for the fact that the word individualism was qualified by the uncouth adjective rugged; and rugged individualism was made the symbol of such hateful human qualities as greed, utter selfishness, and ruthless disregard of the sufferings and hardships of one's neighbors;

How's that for a start to the wussification of the country?

As Scott said a few weeks ago, it's easy to look back today and complain about what happened under FDR. The gold confiscation, AAA, and many of the other programs seem bad now, but at least he was doing something. It's easy to criticize it today. The Revolution Was was written in 1938.

It's long. At times, it's a bit hard to read. I think there are errors from the OCR software used on it. Doesn't matter, it's still a great article, and still very much worth reading.

Eh, anyway, read this article, and see if you don't come away thinking that we got more than a few parts of communism out of it. Then read the 10 Planks from the Communist Manifesto.

Seriously, though, devote the time to reading Garet's work. Then, spend a little time thinking about what it means when a Democrat Senator (Zell Miller speaking at a Republican Convention, says something like this: "President Roosevelt, in a speech that summer, told America "all private plans, all private lives, have been in a sense repealed by an overriding public danger.""

Too me, bipartisan means we're getting screwed from both sides.
