Been awhile

Wow, it's been a long time since I've had anything serious here...

Let's see...

Trip to Alabama

A few weeks ago, work had me down in AL... nothing too special, and the trip itself was fine. Had a fun moment of telling one of the hotel employees that when I left home to head to the airport that morning, it was 5 out.

"5 what?"
"degrees"

and then something to the effect of "I wouldn't be into work if it were that cold out!"
It was a balmy 30 degrees that day.

Getting Back

So, I got to the Huntsville airport very early, figuring I'd work on Mises stuff -- which I did for a while, with lots of help from the guy who is now hosting it. Eventually, though, people on my flight got called up to the ticket counter/desk.

"There's a blizzard in Cincinnati" (where I have a layover) "So we're going to put you on this earlier flight, and hopefully you can get out of there earlier"

*okay, this is fine, it gets me home earlier, I can deal with this*

Takes us about 45 minutes extra in the pattern to get into Cinci... once we do, we have to head to a different terminal, which we have to take a shuttle bus to. The shuttle bus has to stop occasionally to let a plane go by.

Let me say that again:

The shuttle bus has to stop occasionally to let a plane go by.

Now, maybe this isn't so shocking for some. Maybe those who are frequent commuter flyers and such are more adjustsed to this sort of thing. It's quite disconcerting to me.

Shuttle bus - Plane - Paths Cross.

Anyway...
Finally in the terminal, and with a little time to spare, and no internet connection. The time on the departing flight keeps moving up... 7:30... 8:05... 8:37... 9:10... 9:30... 9:55... 10:30

Finally, at 10:30, they have us board the plane. We sit there at the gate for 45 minutes or so, waiting to get in line to be de-iced... and then at 11:30,

"We're sorry to tell you ... corporate... weather... flight canceled..."

BAH!
They set me up for a 7am flight back to Detroit... sure, fine. Won't give me hotel setup or anything else.

So, argue politics with a few people for a few minutes... one was real good with the strawman thing... ahh well... sleep for a few minutes under a chair... sucks... no good place... they don't turn the TVs off.. CNN repeating so much... brainwashed...

Finally, 4:30 hit, and I decided I was tired of being in that terminal; took the shuttle bus back over to the terminal I flew into (where the flight I was on the next morning flew out of).

Finally got off the ground at 8:30 (7 am flight), back into Detroit 9:30... get back into Metro, head to car, look... got a damn flat tire.

Flat tire.
