More Machinery Falling Apart

This time it's my car.

I've got that convertible, still. Lots of fun, managed to get the top down this week, at least one day. Was nice. Damn thing is falling apart. Time to get rid of it, but I've got things I have to fix on it first.

Two weeks ago this coming Monday, I headed out to drive to the airport for an early morning flight to the PRK, for work. Started the car, backing out of the driveway... trail of gas in the driveway. Fuel line broke, a high pressure one. Took the other car to the airport, left this one here. Dad and uncle came by and fixed it while I was in CA...

This past week, took the car down to Ohio for work again(hey, I had a good 2 or 3 nights at home, that should be plenty for anyone!) -- although this was only for one night. Most of the way down there, shortly after dark, stopped at a rest area. Came back out, started the car, turned the lights on... and the dashboard lights are all out. This is fuckin weird.

I like to think I know a thing or two about electronics, especially in vehicles. I have a pretty good idea of how things like that are wired up.

The dimmer switch still changes the brightness of the radio display. All the lights on the dashboard are dead. Turn signal lights and such still work, though.

Bah... I can drive without being able to see the speedometer.

In addition to this, though, lots of other stuff isn't work. For instance, the power door lock... Unlock is fine... lock doesn't do it. The doors automatically lock at 15 mph; at least, they did.

Dome light? (actually on the doors on this car) -- nope, nothing.

WTF?

So, then heading back on Wednesday night (getting ready to go to the unnamed location mentioned in the previous post Thursday morning), the car runs fine -- if a bit dark inside -- all the way back. Get off of '75 at Telegraph, and ... *grind*

The brakes never once squealed or anything... straight to grinding. Damnit.

So, now I'll go out and take care of the brakes. It should be fairly quick. Fuck the rotors. I don't care how ground up they are, I'm not putting any more money into this POS than I have to. Brakes get replaced, and I take the dash apart and see if I can find what is causing the electrical problems. Then I trade this POS in on something, anything.

Ah hell, though; I suppose working on a POS money-pit, screwed up electrical car, that got messed up by a chunk of the Southfield freeway a few months ago, 5 days into a new set of tires beats waiting for a huge computer to shit the bed.

Damnit.
