"Improbable and grotesque mischief"

Fishing Expedition to the Au Sable River in northern Michigan. We'll be camping out on an island.

There is no electricity or running water. No showers or sinks. Certainly no mirrors. If we're lucky, there might be half of a five gallon bucket with a toilet seat screwed on balanced over a hole.

Remember, lack of personal watercraft ownership is not an acceptable reason for missing this trip. Some of us have been amassing a veritable fleet, and we will get everybody there (maybe not back).

Other unacceptable reasons for missing this trip include:




• Fear of retribution from wives/girlfriends


• Children


• Military obligations


• When

July 16 through the 20th.
Official date of arrival is Thursday, July 17.

Au Sable River, Cooke Pond, smaller island.

Basic directions to the area is US-23 north to M-65, turn right on River Road, follow that past Monument Road, then left on Cooke Dam Road.

We'll determine meeting places and such when we get closer to time, and based on when people are getting there, where we want to park, etc. If some are getting in late, we'll set a few meeting times when we'll pick you up at the launch or similar place -- ie, we'll show up at 7:00 and wait until two beers past the hour.

If you pack really light and don't have a boat of your own, you can probably even just go to Lumberman's monument and run down the sand dune.
